Project Brief

A cautionary story from an A&A project.

The owner engaged a contractor who later sub-contracted the design scope to an Architect and Engineer only to stamp the submission drawings. The contractor then used an unlicensed designer-drafter to produce the drawings.

As the project progressed, the designer was unable to comply with the authorities’ requirements and was not conversant with Singapore regulations and drawing standards. The consultants were never engaged to deliver the proper scope of design and coordination. The contractor began demolition work to draw down some payment from the owner, but was unable to proceed further.

The project was delayed 8 months and the contractor was eventually terminated.

Our Ideas

Architect-led Design & Build ensures design and compliance are coordinated from start to construction.

The architect and contractor work hand in hand to deliver a cost-effective, buildable project — no finger-pointing and no sub-contracting out to cut corners and cut cost. Full accountability, and one value price.
